The CNJ at 150 - Dan Carrier illustrates the Paper's history: 18 Sept

TELLING OUR STORIES: Hampstead's local newspapers from the Victorians to today and beyond.

Thursday 18th September 7.30

An Illustrated talk by Dan Carrier of the Camden New Journal

in Keats Communiity Library

Most of us in Camden are aware of the CNJ which arrives like clockwork on Thursday. Founded in 1872, it is one of the few remainling local newspapers.

It has never changed from its campaigning mission for the community. It's often the only way to discover some local issue presented in an relatively impartial manner.

In a time when Social Media has all but replaced traditional Journalism and demeaned the role of reporters to "influencers" the CNJ remains steadfast. And still free...

Dan Carrier has worked at the iconic Camden New Journal for four decades. In this talk, he discusses the history of our local press  in North London (with riveting stories of Hampstead and South End Green), how the many titles reflected their communities, why they matter now and what the future holds.
